This past week Bellaugello Gay Country House has been graced with the presence of Theodore who has been busy helping out whilst soaking up the hot Umbrian sunshine.
Theodore is a very experienced and fully qualified yoga teacher and masseur, and it has been a delight to have him here at Bellaugello, we are getting such great guys here in 2015!
Wow! technological problems have abounded. I am SO tired of technological problems, I know that my emails are not getting through or being received, and for this I apologise, it is not as if I do not want to reply, I am simply not able to. Luckily I have great people with infinite expertise and patience helping me, some in Spain and one right here, and it seems that we are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel.
Anyway onto nice things, and that is Bellaugello Gay Country House which is looking absolutely splendid as a wee tour round the garden with my camera this morning shows:

This morning I am off to the weekly market in our local town of Gubbio, it is still artichoke and orange time, they are abundant, and so good, but I am heading by way of the consorzio, the local farmers’ store for potatoes and then straight on to the stall run by the guy from Assisi who grows and sells the most amazing young vegetable and salad plants, and so we will start planting beans, salad leaves and potatoes in our vegetable garden here at Bellaugello.
This afternoon I am spending with a fellow hotelier discussing menus and looking at new recipes. I am so looking forward to the summer at Bellaugello Gay Country House and our dinners served at our long table on the south facing terrace

Another glorious day, guys lazing by the swimming pool at Bellaugello Gay Guest House, soaking up the hot August sun and generally being sybaritic.
After such hedonism what better than to head to our local town of Gubbio for an aperitif
which we enjoyed on the terrace of bar Martintempo, before going up the road to ristorante Dei Consoli for dinner.
Now last night we were spoilt in a spectacular way at dinner with a tasty antipasto shared by all and liberally doused in truffle…. Grated by ourselves, quite divine!
Life in Umbria is a bit epicurean right now.
A glorious morning, blue skies, big fleecy clouds, and so much colour in the garden here at Bellaugello Gay bed and breakfast.
Temperatures still rising we are up to 22˚c today and I need to get round to dusting down the pool loungers…. Looks like summer is going to be a hot one again!

At Bellaugello Gay Guest House we are looking to recruit a young enthusiastic dynamic conscientious cheerful (and cute!) guy who loves working with people for our busy summer season.
This post of GENERAL ASSISTANT would ideally suit a guy who has an interest in the hospitality business, maybe a student or recent graduate of a college or university course of hospitality or related field. In exchange for board and lodgings and some financial remuneration we are looking for a guy happy to take on flexible working pattern whose duties include helping at breakfasts and dinners, pool maintenance, cleaning, gardening/watering plants, and kitchen help. Of course the successful applicant will be working in a friendly environment, Bellaugello is run along the lines of a home, and be able to make use of the infinity pool and facilities at Bellaugello.

Masseuse there are plenty, and great ones at that, but the guests want a masseur. An invitation from my good friend Ben to travel down with him to Rome for a day’s sailing on our good friend Adolfo’s boat meant rare escape for me from Bellaugello Gay Guest House.
We set off in tandem, two cars in parallel down the superstrada and this morning stocked up on goodies for a picnic aboard. Roman pizzas, cacio e pepe, fresh fruit galore and wonderous light sfogliatelle, those heavenly ricotta and orange pastries from Naples,and so to the marina.
The wind was negligible, indeed zero..
but that did not stop us having a great day out the sun was hot, real hot, little swell and finally just enough breeze for us to sail at a modest 6 knots, bliss….
The last few weeks of sunshine and a good bit of watering have brought the gardens here at Bellaugello Gay Guest House on a treat. The wisteria is beginning to bloom and the tree paeonies and camellias are bursting forth with their crimson and scarlet blooms.
It has been an eventful week, as a precursor to Easter, really most entertaining, there always seems to be something to do or somebody calling round for a chat or a cup of coffee.
The presence of good friends of mine from Santa Cristina over to see the Finnish sauna and panoramic terrace gave two great guys from Holland who were just about to depart for the next stage of their holiday the chance to ask for their visit here at Bellaugello to be captured on camera with me in the centre… Shame they caught me unprepared in my gardening kit and those dreadful crocs… oh the shame, I must get some new gardening shoes!!
