I hate to brag, but last night I was rather pleased with what I cooked for dinner here at Belluagello Gay Guesthouse in Umbria.
As I have previously posted it had been a miserable day, rain all day (yes it is still raining this morning too!) and I felt inspired when it came to cooking dinner last night. We started with crostini brushed with garlic and Bellaugello olive oil. There was a basket of home-baked Bellaugello wholemeal bread and a robust Umbrian red wine from the hills above lake Trasimeno. For first course I cooked one of my famous quiches, this time I added gorgonzola cheese, the resultant quiche light and fluffy and decidedly cheesy. For main course I roasted quails with sage and orange glaze, accompanied by new boiled dill potatoes, and grilled aubergines. A very English strawberries and cream rounded off quite a rich meal.
It was a leisurely dinner and we finally rose from the table at 11.30pm having chatted about our days, the visits we had all made and inevitably here at Bellaugello gay B&B, gay and green issues! Conversation flowed freely from scintillating guests.
Today I continue my enthusiasm for the kitchen and have fruit scones baking in the oven for the guys breakfasts, must dash they smell cooked!
